2003 marked Absolute's fourth year on the water and first year as members under the California Dragon Boat Association. As members of CDBA, Absolute raised the bar on their level of committment to practicing once a week for the entire dragonboat season (March - September). Practices spanned the entire Bay Area with the crew splashing in the Berkeley Marina, Alameda Estuary and Lake Merced. With two solid crews, Absolute Dragons On the Rocks and Straight Up are making waves all over the west coast. In 2003, Absolute competed in 5 regattas. They traveled north to Portland to race in the Portland-Kaoshiung Sister City Dragon Boat races where for the first time they paddled in the massive Taiwanese style boats with flag catching. They ventured south with 2 teams to Long Beach to compete in the Viewsonic World Cup Dragon Boat Races. They also had a great time competing in the local Bay Area races at Merced and Jack London Square.
